Project Description

We will investigate the crystallization of different polymers systems in Langmuir films at the air/water interface. We will focus on precision polymers with regularly spaced hydrophilic groups, poly(methacrylic acid) with different tacticity and poly(vinyl alcohol) with Hofmeister salts in the aqueous subphase using microscopic, infrared spectroscopic, and in-situ X-ray scattering techniques for characterization. Thermodynamic and kinetic models will be developed.
