Project Details
Lipid activated nuclear receptors LXR? and ? in chronic fibrosing inflammation (I)
Subject Area
Gastroenterology
Term
from 2011 to 2015
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 178696424
Chronic fibrosing inflammation typically results in reduced organ function. We have shown that these processes can be dampened by increasing the activity of lipid-activated nuclear receptors LXR (liver X-receptor) alpha and beta as well as by abolishing the activity of Dickkopf 3 (DKK3). Within the next funding period, we aim to decipher the cell-specific contribution of LXRalpha, beta and DKK3 to these effects and to elucidate the interaction between the DKK3- and LXR-signalling pathways. Furthermore, we aim to investigate the role of LXR alpha and beta in the peritumoral inflammation and fibrosis which influence the tumor progression.
