In this project the unusual electronic and magnetic properties of the new iron pnictide superconductors will be studied by means of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR, NQR) and transport measurements. We will combine these two complementary microscopic and macroscopic experimental probes on the same samples in order to arrive at a comprehensive understanding of the unusual phenomena and their impact on superconductivity in the iron pnictides. Our investigations will cover the whole doping range including the normal state and the superconducting state as well as the consequences of spin density wave (SDW) formation in the parent compounds. In the normal state, our interests concern anomalous transport, low energy spin fluctuations, pseudogap phenomena, and electronic inhomogeneities which appear as remnants of the SDW order. In the superconducting state we will explore its gap structure, and search for evidence of the coexistence of short range antiferromagnetic order and superconductivity.
