Project Details
Chemistry of phosphanyl transition-metal complexes and related compounds: the quest for ligand-centered generation, bonding and reactivity of spin centers (B04)
Subject Area
Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2009 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 60803019
This project focuses on short-lived, open-shell transition-metal complexes with functional P-ligands and their use in synthesis and polymerization. Methods of generation differ, i.e., in part A single-electron oxidation of anionic (e.g. phosphanido, phosphinidenoid), zwitterionic and phosphaquino-methane P-ligands will be used, as well as homolytic bond cleavage in neutral P-ligands. In part B we focus on the combination of single-electron reduction of strained P-ligands (oxaphosphiranes) with H atom transfer reactions. Trapping experiments, DFT and EPR studies will provide further insights into this novel chemistry.
