Project Details
Development of atom-economical and enantioselective catalytic radical reactions (B02)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2009 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 60803019
In B2 we investigate catalytic radical reactions that address the issues of sustainability and stereose-lectivity. Examples are radical arylations, epoxide hydrosilylations, and regiodivergent epoxide openings. Catalyst design is based on an interdisciplinary strategy that relies on close cooperation with theoretical and EPR projects. Our results will demonstrate that the concept of catalysis in single elec-tron steps that relates 'classical' organometallic chemistry to radical chemistry provides a general design principle for the development of sustainable, atom-economical and enantioselective radical reactions.
