Femtosecond dynamics in nanostructured organic complexes (B09)

Subject Area Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term from 2008 to 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 49579428

The dynamics of energy and charge transfer processes in organized organic and metal/organic complexes on surfaces are important for their functions. These electronic properties are investigated by femtosecond excitation and temporally resolved two-photon photoemission. Singlet and triplet energy level positions relative to substrate bands, spin-changing phenomena leading to triplet states, and the competition between intermolecular and adsorbate-substrate interactions are central research topics. In spatially constraint systems different electronic dynamics are expected. Energy and charge transfer rates are derived from a controlled dilution of the active species on the surface.
