Functional optimization by control of the electronic and structural properties of organic molecules on surfaces studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (B03)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2008 to 2017
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 49579428

Project Description

In this project two central aspects are investigated. 1: The investigation of the electronic properties of molecular systems by LT-STM/STS. The properties of substrate supported single molecules, 1D and 2D molecular assemblies as well as extended molecular layer are investigated with respect to the influence of the substrate-molecule and competing intermolecular interactions on the electronic properties of these systems by STS. 2. Self-organization and phase transitions in weakly interacting molecular layers prepared by OBME are studied. STM studies of layered systems are performed for various other projects of TTR 61.
