Mechanical modelling of the deformation and failure behaviour of particulate-reinforced composites of ZrO2-ceramics and TRIP-steel (C05)

Subject Area Mechanical Properties of Metallic Materials and their Microstructural Origins
Term from 2008 to 2020
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 54473466

Project Description

The aims of project C5 are twofold: Firstly, to simulate micromechanical damage mechanisms in the fracture process zone. Secondly, to model phase transformation, deformation and damage behavior of particle reinforced TRIP-matrix-composites for cyclic loading. To foster the understanding of the interplay between deformation and damage processes in the composite during cyclic loading, micromechanical simulations will be carried out. The present constitutive model will be modified to capture cyclic response and extended by a nonlocal damage formulation and thermomechanical coupling.
