Project Details
Design of as cast austenitic stainless steels with TRIP-effect (A02)
Subject Area
Metallurgical, Thermal and Thermomechanical Treatment of Materials
Term
from 2008 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 54473466
In A2 corrosion-resistant, metastable partially austenitic Cr-Mn-Ni cast steels with strain-induced plasticity will be investigated and provided for the manufacturing of novel steel-ceramic composites. The research in the solid state aims to introduce martensite into the interstitially-strengthened steels with TRIP/TWIP effect. Furthermore, the effect of specially designed tempering treatments on the mechanical properties will be studied. Within the investigation of thermophysical properties of the liquid phase the density, the surface tension and the viscosity of liquid Cr-Mn-Ni steels will be experimentally studied. Selected Fe-Cr-Mn-Ni alloys will be gas atomized using vacuum inert gas atomization.
