A number of novel features of quantum tunneling in single molecule magnets (SMM) have been predicted to manifest themselves in the electronic conductance leading to a stepwise increase or even oscillations of the conductance as well as to a Kondo resonance in the presence of an external magnetic field. To probe these effects experimentally well-defined contact geometries with trapped individual SMM in combination with u ltra low temperatures and strong magnetic fields have to be used. Thus an ultra-high vacuum cryogenix STM/STS system equipped with a 4He cryostat for cooling of the head and applying magnetic vector fields, equipped with an optical fiber and a separate UHV preparation chamber is necessary fot the low-temperature STM/STS experiments on individual SMM clusters.
