Electronic Structure of Nano-scale Objects (A05)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2008 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 43659573

Project Description

The interrelation of electronic, optical und structural properties of novel types of nanostructures will be investigated. We focus on "in-situ"-modifications during epitaxial growth as well as "ex-situ"-control by thermal annealing, application of electric andmagnetic fields, the influence of micro-cavities and in particular the impact of internal and external stressors on the structural and electronic properties of quantum dots. The experimental work will be guided by comprehensive electronic structure calculations, with a focus on many-body effects, and the impact of internal and external mechanical stress, the role of external magnetic fields and the calculation of the angular energy flux of excitonic decays.
