Defect-induced magnetism in oxides (B01)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2008 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 31047526

Project Description

Defect-induced magnetism (DIM) leads to magnetic field dependencies of physical processes. Due to the concentration of DIM at the surface near regions a local study of the magnetic structure of the studied oxides on the surface is indispensable, being possible by a newly constructed magnetometer. It will be further investigated: ZnO:Li:H (Magneto photoconductivity, thermoelectric effect), TiO2 (transferabilitiy of techniques to produce DIM), zinc ferrite (defect engineering). Theoretical investigations contribute to the interpretation of the experiments and to the development of the understanding of DIM.
