Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 60617961
In the present proposal the Japanese partner will fabricate films of new Heusler compounds with particular emphasis on site order effects in single crystalline CosMnSi, Co2MnAl, CoaMnGe and Co2MnSii-xAlx, films, he will prepare magnetic tunneling junctions with Co2MnSii-xAlx, Co2MnGe electrodes, and he will measure the magnetic anisotropy, damping constant, and spin polarization. The German partner will investigate the exchange constants of these materials, he will investigate the magnetic anisotropy behavior and the magneto-optic properties using Brillouin light scattering and linear and quadratic MOKE magnetometry, and he will study the perspectives of modification and potential improvement of the materials using ion irradiation techniques. Via cooperation with the Research Unit 559 both partners have access to related activities in the Research Unit, such as numerical simulation and synthesis of new bulk materials, microscopic theory, spin-polarized (high energy) photoemission spectroscopy, magnetic x-ray spectroscopy, and two-photon-photoemission spectroscopy.
