Project Details
In vitro Germ Cell Differentiation of Cord-Blood-derived Unrestricted Somatic Stem Cells (USSC)
Applicant
Professor Dr. Hans Robert Schöler
Subject Area
Hematology, Oncology
Term
from 2007 to 2011
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 20803802
Human cord-blood derived unrestricted somatic stem cells (USSC) can be reprogrammed to induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. This project derives and characterizes iPS cells from USSC (iP-USSC) by different means. The differentiation potential of reprogrammed cord blood cells will be assessed in comparison to native USSC. The focus of this project embraces mesodermal / hematopoietic and germ cell induction from iP-USSC. Besides reprogramming to full pluripotency induction of mesodermal progenitors in USSC will be evaluated.
