The proposal aims to investigate the phase diagram and phase transitions of coherent, degenerate ensembles of interlayer excitons in van der Waals heterostructures at very low temperatures and high exciton densities. In particular, it will be investigated which mechanism is responsible for the formation of the spatial coherence in the interacting exciton ensembles and how this mechanism can be revealed in secondary emission of collective excitations. In addition, it will be investigated which collective excitations exist in the coherent phases of degenerate dipolar interlayer excitons. Moreover, the critical parameters of van der Waals heterostructures will be fundamentally examined and optimized in order to accommodate coherent, degenerate ensembles of dipolar excitons.
