In accordance with the DFG funding programme Open Access Publication Costs, the Rhineland-Palatinate University of Technology (RPTU) is striving to adapt the funding streams for Open Access publications. To achieve this goal, a publication fund has already been set up and publication monitoring has been established with the help of a university bibliography. While publication monitoring serves to obtain an overview of published output, the RPTU is now planning to introduce publication cost monitoring in cooperation with the administration and the third-party funding department in order to enable the precise mapping of costs for OA publications. Another goal is to provide financial support for publishers to cover OA costs, so authors should still be able to easily apply for funding for OA articles in Gold-OA journals. The financial support for authors will be made possible by a new budget model, which will be introduced during the project.
