The research objective of A08 is to optimize the existing thermomechanical treatment of steels in order to minimize damage during subsequent cold forming operations. To this end, a DP800 with improved damage tolerance has already been produced in the second funding period by adjusting a purely martensitic microstructure during cold rolling, which shows less damage during cold rolling and a higher damage tolerance in subsequent cold forming. In the third funding period, the focus is on the optimization of intercritical annealing to adjust the DP microstructure with the aim of further refining the grain size and improving the damage tolerance in various cold forming processes. This research will help to deepen the understanding of damage-tolerant microstructures in real forming processes and in the application of new alloys.
