The aim of the interdisciplinary collaborative research centre 565 "Development and Evaluation of Disturbed Landscapes - Case Study Lusatian Post-Mining Landscape" of the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus is to study and to evaluate the development of ecological systems in anthropogenically disturbed manmade landscapes by using the post-mining landscape of Lusatia as case study area. The involved disciplines from the natural-, economy and social sciences are pursuing in a close interdisciplinary co-operation to analyse the impact of anthropogenic disturbance at the landscape level and to evaluate the rehabilitation options in manmade landscapes after disturbance. This will be the basis for the establishment of decision support tools for sustainable land use after anthropogenic disturbance.
