SFB 450:  Analysis and Control of Ultrafast Photoinduced Reactions

Subject Area Physics
Term from 1998 to 2010
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 5482481

Project Description

In a tight cooperation between experiment and theory and by looking at a broad variety of molecular systems we seek a deeper insight in to photoinduced physico-chemical processes. In the centre of our interests are the following questions:
-- Which significance does coherence have in systems, which are not fully describable in all their degrees of freedom? The importance of coherence for a control of molecular dynamics should be worked out. The disappearance of coherence and its significance for molecular control must be evaluated.
-- Can local-modes specifically be exited?
-- How does the dynamical behaviour of a molecular ensemble correspond to the relating properties of a single molecule?
-- Which control scenarii are not suited for a particular system?
-- How sensitive does the obtained result of the control process depend upon fluctuations in the initial state upon temporal variations of the control fields?
