SFB 474:  Intrazelluläre Organisation von Regulations- und Transportprozessen

Subject Area Biology
Term from 1997 to 2000
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 5481452

The remarkable flexibility of cells for rapid and effective responses to extracellular signals or stressors resides in the complex intracellular organization of signal transduction, gene expression, protein interactions and recompartmentation. The dynamically changing intracellular network of infomation transfer results from the combination and/or transient modification of a limited number of basal elements. Because of the extraordinary complexity, investigations on the "Intracellular Organization of Regulation and Transport Processes" require synergistic interactions of research groups experienced in biochemistry, genetics, molecular cell biology and ultrastructural research with microorganisms, plants and animals. Major focuses of the collaborative research centre 474 are: (A)Signal transduction and control of gene expression, (B) Cytoskeletal systems as basis for intracellular organization, (C)Intracellular transport of vesicles and macromolecules.
