Project Description

The subproject investigates constructions and models of home and how they are conveyed to and appropriated by children of primary and elementary school age. It focusses regionally on the two Germanys from the occupation until the early 1960s. By analyzing texts and objects as well as normative and autobiographical sources historically it is shown, how political and social conditions influenced the modeling of homes and their appropriation in the school, club and children’s rooms.
