The interaction between individuals and groups of individuals is a fundamental necessity for socio-environmental developments, as already reflected by manifold results from the previous phases of the CRC 1266. Changes in interaction – or networks – are a possible main driver of transformations. The spatial, social and temporal dimension of networks especially constitutes transformative developments, including the ex- change of commodities, people (e.g. migration) and knowledge. A crucial point in approaching networks in the framework of the CRC 1266 is to understand their nested cross-scale entanglement.
