... During this project we focus on the basin development that is controlled by a varyingregional subsidence released by crustal extension during the rifting processes in the North Sea area (North Sea Rift dome). Sea level fluctuations and geotectonic processes mainly trigger deposition in a shallow water depositional area that is very susceptible towards changes in subsidence rates and sea level and, hence, an important archive for the reconstruction of the basin development. The developed sequence stratigraphic scheme is neccessary for the long- distance correlation with successions of other European basins.
