SUB Göttingen has terminated the maintenance of the Specialized Information Service Finno-Ugric / Uralic Languages, Literatures and Cultures (FID-FinnUG) as of June 30, 2023. Up to 2023 FID FinnUG closely cooperated with FID Northern Europe (FID-Nord) maintained by Kiel University Library (UBK) and FID Eastern, East Central and Southeastern Europe (FID-Ost) maintained by the Bavarian State Library (BSB). The cooperation mainly consisted of acquisition agreements and the integration of metadata into the portals vifanord (Finland, Sámi and others) and osmikon (Hungary, Estonian philology, Finnougrian peoples of Russia). Against this background, BSB and UBK are applying for funding to jointly take over the tasks of FID FinnUG and continue providing services for the users as seamlessly as possible. Responsibility for services established in FID FinnUg will be continued and divided geographically. Futhermore services will be extended according to service portfolios of FID-Nord and FID-Ost. Both libraries request acquisition funds for print publications and e-media, funds to include non-commercial e-resources in their services, and funds for coordination with the specialist communities.
