The proposed work aims at development of the subgrid stress model governed by the corresponding transport equation. Both the conventional LES as well as a novel hybrid RANS/LES procedure will be investigated. Particular attention will be devoted to the interface matching in the former case. The flow configurations under investigation are pertinent to combustor geometries, exhibiting wall-bounded and free separation regions. Furthermore, swirling flows subjected to compression caused by moving walls approaching each other will be considered. DNS data will be provided in this case, in order to calibrate the hybrid LES/RANS subgrid model.
