Multi-axial electromechanical constitutive behavior of ferroelectric ceramic solids will be investigated by the method of experiment. Tension-torsion and bi-axial tension tests will be performed on tubular and planar specimens, respectively. Effect of the multi-axial mechanical loading upon the electric behavior will be quantified, in terms of the stress-strain curves, the electric field-electric displacement curves and, most importantly, the electromechanical "yield surface". These multi-axial results, once available, are the basis for future development of phenomenological constitutive laws and for further study of the sensitivity of ferroelectric solids to flaws.
