The main objective of the project is the development of geometrical and topological methods to uncover the physical properties of effective N=1 supersymmetric theories in four dimensions, which result from various dimensional reductions of String-, M- and F-theory by compactification or in brane-world scenarios. The ultimate goal would be a detailed description of an N=1 theory with chiral matter and standard model gauge group, which incorporates especially the non-perturbative effects that eventually explain the breaking of supersymmetry at low scales dynamically.
