C05 studies the selective electrooxidation of hydrocarbons with (doped) zinc oxide thin film catalysts. Surface oriented films with controlled defects and substrate-induced strain will be synthesized, characterized, and test-ed for their stability in relevant electrolyte systems. Electrosynthetic screening aims at identifying descriptors for the electroconversion and relating them to surface structure and chemical composition of the anode material. C05 collaborates with A06 (active anodes), B04 (bioelectrochemistry), C01/C02/C03/C04 (sample preparation), and C04 (electrocatalysis).
