C03 will synthesize (doped) zinc oxide-based nanomaterials and develops operando methods (lateral- and time-resolved IR-spectroscopy) to study the site-specific photo- and electrocatalytic water oxidation. The project examines the catalytic activity and 2H+/2e– vs 4H+/4e– PCET selectivity of amorphous and crystalline ZnO particles as dependent on external electric fields, ZnO faceting, and transition metal doping. C03 collaborates with A02/A05 (spectroscopy), A06 (device development), B05 (spectroscopy), C04 (theory, photo/electrocatalysis), and C01/C02/C05 (sample exchange).
