Site-specific Kinetics and Dynamics of Surface PCET Reactions (C02)

Subject Area Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 510228793

Project Description

The project utilizes molecular beam surface scattering methods to determine the mechanisms and adsorption energies of reaction intermediates in PCET processes on (doped) ZnO relevant to water splitting in the electronic ground and excited state. It aims at disentangling the kinetics and dynamics at specific surface sites by application of velocity resolved kinetics to develop structural predictors for interfacial PCET reactivity. Project C02 collaborates with C01/C05 (sample preparation), C03 (identification of active sites), and C04 (adsorption energies).
