Project Details
Electron Dynamics at Hydrated Magnetically Doped ZnO Surfaces (C01)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 510228793
Project C01 aims to elucidate (a) the effect of ZnO surface hydration on the electronic structure and charge carrier dynamics and (b) evaluate doping strategies to steer the (proton-coupled) electron dynamics. The pro-ject utilizes scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and spectroscopy (STS) combined with in-situ optical excita-tion to determine the impact of local defects and dopants on the electronic structure and site-specific PCET reactivity. Complementary time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (trARPES) provides the opti-cally induced ultrafast charge transfer dynamics. C01 collaborates with C02/C03/C05 (sample preparation and exchange) and A01 (sum frequency generation spectroscopy).
