The Effect of Oriented Electric Fields on PCET Reactions (B05)

Subject Area Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 510228793

Project Description

The project is a bioinspired approach to study the effect of electric fields on PCET within structurally well-defined, nanoscopic environments. Supramolecular cages with different sizes and varying charge will be de-veloped and utilized as hosts to quantify the impact of oriented electric field on the PCET reactivity of arche-typal molecular hydrido and hydroxy guest species. Transfer of cage compounds to several projects in the A group aims at introducing biomimetic strategies to control molecular PCET. B05 collaborates with A03/A05 (PCET kinetics), A03/A04 (supramolecular catalysis), C03 (vibrational spectroscopy), B03 (Raman spectrosco-py), and B04 (theory).
