Our preliminary data revealed several microproteins that are significantly up- or downregulated upon autophagy disruption or infection with Acinetobacter baumannii. Building up on this observation, this project seeks to characterize the underlying molecular mechanisms that regulate the interplay between microproteins and autophagy and to assess the modulation of autophagy-related microproteins upon infection. One focus will be on tRNA modifications as key modulator of microprotein expression in the context of xenophagy.
