Functional impact of recent shifts in human lifestyle on host- microbiome interactions (C05*)

Subject Area Bioinformatics and Theoretical Biology
Evolution, Anthropology
Microbial Ecology and Applied Microbiology
Ecology and Biodiversity of Animals and Ecosystems, Organismic Interactions
Metabolism, Biochemistry and Genetics of Microorganisms
Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 261376515

The project (Groussin, Poyet and Rühlemann) investigates the impact of shifts in human lifestyle and associated changes in microbiome diversity on the functional characteristics of the human metaorganism. The project will build upon a unique collection of biosamples and paired human-microbiome data from the Global Microbiome Conservancy (GMbC) cohort. The expected results could help to develop strategies to prevent detrimental microbiome trajectories associated with the adoption of industrialized lifestyles.
