Project Details
Formation of defect phases via hydrogen exposure in nickel alloys (B08*)
Subject Area
Thermodynamics and Kinetics as well as Properties of Phases and Microstructure of Materials
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 409476157
The degradation of nickel alloys via defect phases is investigated by means of correlative transmission electron microscopy and atomic probe tomography. For this purpose, a standardised evaluation is developed to detect the formation of nano-hydrides after hydrogen loading along dislocation lines. Furthermore, the contribution of elemental segregations to hydrogen diffusion and embrittlement is in our focus. The controlled incorporation of oxygen into such hydrogen-loaded systems serves to understand the underlying dissociation and diffusion phenomena.
