Thin film investigations on ferroelectric organic charge transfer systems (B09)

Subject Area Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics
Term from 2007 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 31867626

Project Description

Project B09 studies the influence of anisotropic strain on the neutral-ionic transition of tetrathiafulvalene(TTF)-p-chloranil(QCl4). Clamping effects in thin films of TTF-QCl4 are used to taylor the strain state and thus change the intra-stack and inter-stack interactions of this mixed-stack organic charge transfer system. In addition, the coupling of the electric polarization on the spin-singlet dimers in the stacks is modified by introducing an additional magnetic exchange coupling by embedding ferromagnetic nano-islands into the TTF-QCl4 thin films.
