Project Details
Interacting magnetic excitations in quantum spin systems - Thermodynamic investigations (B01)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2007 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 31867626
In the present project properly-designed quantum-magnets are used as model systems to explore many-body effects under variable and well-controllable conditions. The following aspects will be investigated: (1) The effects of geometric frustration and spin-lattice interaction on the quantum-critical behaviour, (2) field-induced order in 2D coupled-dimer quantum spin systems, and (3) the magnetocaloric effect in a geometrically frustrated system around a B-induced quantum-critical point.
