This project aims at (i) correlating n-type semiconductor length and order with spin transport characteristics and (ii) the design, self-assembly and use of helical peptide-semiconductor block co-oligomers for next-generation spin valve architectures. The combination of spin polarization, spin injection across an all-organic interface, spin transport in ordered layers and spin transfer into electrodes reduces the impedance mismatch problem for spin injection and furthermore eliminates the need for magnetic electrodes. The presented concept greatly facilitates processing and has the potential to revolutionize the field of organic spintronics.
