Chiral molecules act as electron spin polarizers upon charge transfer, a property labeled as CISS (chirality-induced spin selectivity). Here we propose a new approach for realizing electronic spin hyperpolarization upon photoexcitation by utilizing (achiral or chiral) bismuth-oxido based nanoclusters (BiON) as light absorbers with tunable optical absorption connected via helical polypeptides to a ferromagnetic substrate. The interplay between chirality, absorption properties, and efficiency of spin hyperpolarization will be investigated using circular dichroism spectroscopy and (magneto-)optical spectroscopies.
