Studying stellar feedback in the Milky Way and Magellanic Clouds (B02)

Subject Area Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 500700252

Project Description

Project B2 aims at characterising the feedback of massive stars and their embedding habitats in the Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds over large spatial scales. Together with project B3, this will help to bridge the spatial gap between the A- and C-projects. The main contribution to the CRC are surveys in the CO 4 – 3 / 7 – 6 and the [C I] 1 – 0 / 2 – 1 spectral lines using the CHAI receiver. The surveys will be conducted with the Fred Young Submillimeter Telescope (FYST) at the CCAT observatory in Chile starting in 2024. Our data will be combined with the wealth of available complementary data and analysed involving modelling of PDRs and cloud formation and evolution simulations.
