In this project, novel heterogeneous Janus catalysts based on mesoporous silica gel are synthesised, characterised and investigated for their application in three-phase solid-liquid gas reactions. We consider the application of mesoporous Janus particles in solid-liquid-gas mixtures to be particularly interesting because a stable, emulsion-like mixture can never form here due to the high density differences between the gas phase and the liquid phase. It is therefore all the more important to achieve the highest possible concentration of gas molecules in the vicinity of the catalytically active centres, which we want to achieve through the specific surface functionalisation and the intrinsically high specific surface of the mesoporous silica gels. Short diffusion paths of all reaction partners are another advantage of such systems.
