Project Details
Public Relation (Ö1*)
Subject Area
Optics, Quantum Optics and Physics of Atoms, Molecules and Plasmas
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 398816777
The project (Cartarius/Mappes) will tackle the didactical challenge to develop concepts for the presentation of nonlinear optical down to the atomic scale to the public and pupils of different levels. The project will be coordinated by the new PIs Holger Cartarius, with expertise in physics didactics and education, and Timo Mappes, the director of the Deutsches Optisches Museum (D.O.M.). Experiments developed for the pupils’ lab will in addition be provided in NOA’s public outreach activities, e.g., the "Long Night of Sciences" and the "MINT Festival Jena". Furthermore, stations of the "Showcases of Recent Optics Research in D.O.M." will be dedicated to NOA projects. The showcases will be accompanied by a series of NOA science talks targeting the general audience and presented at the historic lecture hall of D.O.M. With this project area, NOA aims to bundle the science communication and dissemination activities and bring them to another level during the second funding period.
