This proposal aims for a magnetocryotstat system that allows us to perform characterization measurements of solid-state samples over a wide temperature and magnetic-field range. In order to cover the broad range of different material classes, which are studied by the various collaborative research projects in our institute we need a modular system that first of all offers a variety of basic sample characterization via electrical resistivity, magnetization, and heat capacity measurements. These tools are often needed as a quality and performance control of new samples or devices, but besides that also reveal whether, e.g., an intended systematic variation of material's properties or of device properties appears feasible. In addition, the system shall be used as magneto-cryogenic platform for the implementation of broadband spectroscopic measurements. These methods are adapted to the PPMS via dedicated insets and sample-holders featuring coaxial lines suited for microwave application, high voltages, or even optical fibers. Such measurements are more specialized and rely on home-made hardware and software attached to the commercial system.
