Scalability and Complexity in Immersive Analytics (A09*)

Subject Area Image and Language Processing, Computer Graphics and Visualisation, Human Computer Interaction, Ubiquitous and Wearable Computing
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 251654672

Project Description

We aim to investigate questions related to scalability and complexity of data analysis in immersive environments (IE). This investigation is concerned with fundamental questions regarding the demands on the analyst and the effects of scale on the analysis process and results. In order to assess the suitability of designs and methods, we will characterize the design space of IE for data analysis with respect to scalability, investigate effects and limits of scale in selected configurations, compare approaches, and develop abstraction and navigation methods that support scalability. For the evaluation, we will conduct user studies to quantify user performance and behavior, e.g., limits of perception and explainability.
