Project Details
Phase Separation of RS Splicing Regulators as a Modulator of Light-Dependent Plant Development (R06)
Subject Area
Biochemistry
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 464588647
In this project, the dynamics of light-triggered condensate formation of splicing regulatory RS proteins is studied by experiment and simulation, as an example of a phase separation process that responds to external stimuli and is linked to plant morphogenesis. We plan to deploy in vitro studies of phase separation, biochemical characterization of in vivo RS protein complexes, and theoretical and computer modelling approaches to study formation and disintegration of RS speckles in the context of their physiological functions, with an emphasis on the impact of phosphorylation changes.
