Genomic and geographic maps of NLRs and matching effectors in the A. thaliana - H. arabidopsidis pathosystem (A07)
Subject Area

Term
since 2023

Our ultimate goal is to learn what drives immune receptor diversity in wild plants. To this end, we will make use of a Europe-wide strain collection from the specialist oomycete pathogen, Hyaloperonospora arabidopsidis, which can only infect Arabidopsis thaliana. We will determine the range of interactions between dozens of effector and immune receptor alleles, revealing how well individual effector-receptor pairs predict compatibility/incompatibility in the whole-organism context. As a basis for work in the next funding period, we will develop single-cell based methods for the unbiased discovery of effector/receptor interactions.
