Project Details
Vascular control of organ-specific inflammation in cardiometabolic diseases (C07*)
Subject Area
Hematology, Oncology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 394046768
Adenosine-to-inosine RNA editing is a critical epitranscriptional regulator of pro-inflammatory gene expression in the vascular endothelium. This is catalyzed by the RNA editors adenosine de-aminase acting on RNA-1 and -2 (ADAR1 and ADAR2). ADAR2 is integral for EC interleukin-6 (IL-6) signaling and IL-6-induced immune cell trafficking in inflamed tissues. Considering that IL-6 plays a key role in the development of cardiometabolic diseases, the aim of project C07 is to examine the role of ADAR2-mediated epitranscriptional reprogramming of vascular endothelium in organ-specific inflammation in response to cardiometabolic disorders.
