Project Details
BMP9/10-blood flow signaling crosstalk in safeguarding vessel integrity and organ functionality (B07*)
Subject Area
Developmental Biology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 394046768
Project B07 will dissect the crosstalk of flow-induced shear stress and cytokine regulation in promoting and maintaining organotypic endothelial cell quiescence and vascular homeostasis. Project B07 will towards this end, (i) decipher the cellular and molecular players in BMP9/10-flow control of endothelial cell normalcy and in arterio-venous malformation (AVM) pathogenesis and (ii) unravel the spatio-temporal outcome of BMP9/10-flow signaling in organ function. A multidisciplinary approach involving multi-omics, time-lapse microscopy and conditional gene targeting in combination with high-end morpho-phenotypic, biochemical and molecular analytical techniques all the way to the single cell level will be employed towards this end.
