Transport properties of itinerant frustrated and topological magnets (C10*)

Subject Area Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term since 2023

Project Description

This project focuses on thermal and electric transport in itinerant topological and frustrated magnets. We aim at investigating the interplay of topology with magnetism by directly detecting the topological electronic contributions to transport resulting in anomalous transverse signals such as the anomalous Hall and thermal Hall effects. By tuning temperature and magnetic field, but also pressure or strain, changes in the signal will be related to changes of symmetry, magnetism, and band structure. A second goal is to detect contributions to thermal transport from neutral heat carriers such as topological magnetic excitations.
