Age-dependent intestinal epithelial determinants of infections with enteropathogenic Escherichia coli and Campylobacter jejuni (A02)

Subject Area Medical Microbiology and Mycology, Hygiene, Molecular Infection Biology
Term since 2023
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 492620490

Project Description

Using single cell RNA-seq, A02 aims to identify potential target cell (sub)types that promote or restrict adherence and/or internalisation by enteropathogenic Escherichia coli and Campylobacter jejuni. A02 will investigate underlying molecular mechanisms that mediate age-dependency of these gastrointestinal bacterial infections. In the future, A02 aims to understand which factors shape the age-dependent epithelial determinants and how they can be exploited for therapy development.
